"Graphic setup" error for Company of Heroes.

The error message:
"Failed to find a supported hardware rendering device. Ensure that your system meets the minimum requirements for CoH. Verify that DirectX is properly installed and that you have the latest drivers for your system."

The solution:
Use "-minvidmem 0" (without the quotes) as a launch option.

Guess the game thought I'm using the integrated video card to play the game..

  1. Sorry, where to type -minvidmem 0? I have the new gen processors with the integrated graphic card AND an Nvidia GT 540m on my laptop so the game is reckognising the intel processor graphic and not the nvidia...

  2. I'm using steam so when you right-click the game name and click properties, there's a button named "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS..". Click that and type inside the window that pops up.

If yours is a standalone, I guess you could right-click the icon in desktop and select properties then add -minvidmem 0 to the end of the target box. It should appear somewhat like this: "C:\game location.." -minvidmem 0

You could also try going into the nvdia control panel (right-click in an empty space in desktop) and select your 540m as the preferred card to use for COH under the "Manage 3D Settings" tab.

    Hope that helps.

  3. I tried installing the demo of this game on steam last night and I encountered this error. I'm going to try using this solution when I get home from work, I hope it works. The only other thing I can think of doing is uninstalling the integrated graphics card...
